Contractor field guide

How to organize contractor job photos by customer

When job pictures live only in a crowded camera roll, finding a past repair can become its own project. A simple customer-first filing system keeps the work connected to the person and job.

Start with the customer record

Create one place for each client and their contact details. Separate jobs or visits under that customer so photos from repeat work do not become mixed together.

Capture photos that answer questions

Photograph the condition before work, anything important discovered during the job, and the completed result. Include equipment labels or part numbers where they help with later follow-up. Avoid photographing private information you do not need.

Add context while you are on-site

Record a short note explaining what the picture shows, the service date, the affected equipment, and any follow-up needed. Descriptive notes help more than generic filenames weeks later.

Keep records useful for callbacks

When the customer calls again, review the earlier photos and notes before heading out. This can help you see what changed and avoid repeating basic diagnosis.

Use a contractor-focused workflow

JobSnapApp keeps job photos inside client records alongside service notes and other job information, making field documentation easier to retrieve than an unorganized phone gallery.
